A Spring Wedding at Gidleigh Park with a Dartmoor First Look | Rose & Will

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the wedding of Rose and Will at the beautiful and elegant Gidleigh Park, right in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. As a Devon wedding photographer I get to explore some incredible places—but this one was something else.

First look on Dartmoor

I knew from the moment Rose and Will got in touch that this day was going to be amazing. They wanted to do things a bit differently—a little more adventurous, a little more them. Before the ceremony, we headed out onto Dartmoor for a first look and some quiet time with their two beautiful spaniels (yes—dogs at weddings always get a big yes from me!). There’s something so special about having that space and calm before the day kicks off, especially somewhere as wild and beautiful as Dartmoor.

Gidleigh Park

Gidleigh Park is no ordinary venue—it’s an award-winning luxury hotel, tucked away above Chagford, surrounded by ancient woodland and moorland views. With two Michelin stars, it’s known not just for its incredible setting but also for its food, which truly is next level.

And let me just say: the canapés were like little works of art. Absolutely beautiful to look at and somehow even better to eat. Possibly the best canapés I’ve ever tasted—and I’ve sampled a few in my time as a wedding photographer! Everything about the food, the service, the timing—it was faultless. Elegant, understated, and truly delicious.

Rose and Will’s ceremony took place in one of the hotel’s gorgeous wood panelled rooms called Nattadon with just close family. It was heartfelt, warm, and full of quiet joy. Afterwards, we made the most of that spring sunshine with relaxed portraits in the gardens and a walk around the grounds.

I’m so thankful to get booked for these kinds of intimate weddings in Devon—the ones that are a little more personal, with couples who aren’t afraid to do things their own way.
