Wooladon Estate | Shell & Jim

There’s something really special about being recommended by a past couple—when someone you’ve photographed sends their friends your way, it means a lot. That’s how I came to photograph Shell and Jim’s early March wedding at the stunning Wooladon Estate. That kind of connection really does make the day feel extra special.

Wooladon Estate

Wooladon is an absolute gem tucked away on the Devon and Cornwall border. Surrounded by 500 acres of peaceful countryside, woodland, lakes, and walking trails, it offers total privacy and a real sense of calm. The main house is a grand, five-star Georgian residence—elegant yet relaxed—and with five recently refurbished high-spec cottages, there’s enough luxurious on-site accommodation for 30+ guests. It’s the kind of place that really lets you make a weekend of it.

Shell and Jim’s wedding was full of joy and warmth. March can be a little unpredictable, but we struck lucky with soft skies and dry ground. We even had a few Highland cows wandering into the background of their portraits—which was such a fun moment! Their grazing table was absolutely beautiful, provided by the lovely team at Graze & S’more—incredible food and such a relaxed, social way to dine.

The ceremony to the dancing

From getting ready in Wooladon House to dancing the night away in the barn with the brilliant Dj and all round fun guy Westys events. The whole day had such an easy, natural flow. This was the perfect start to my wedding season and I love a spring wedding, specially at one of the most beautiful country house venues in Devon. Highland cows and a blue lake as a backdrop were my highlights from the day and a real bonus for portraits.
