This October join professional photographer Jules of Rockrose Photography for an inspiring 3 day retreat on Dartmoor, timed perfectly to coincide with Dartmoor’s most magical season.
You’ll explore Dartmoor’s most breathtaking and lesser known locations, guided by Jules and her expert eye. With tuition tailored to your level, whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your creative vision, this retreat offers the perfect balance of learning, exploring, and unwinding.

Whats included

During your stay, everything is taken care of so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience:

Early check in @ 1100 am on 21st October, where everyone can meet over coffee and pastries and gain an understanding of the next 3 days. Before your first adventure out.

3 nights of luxury accommodation at the tranquil Lydgate House Hotel, Postbridge, nestled in its own private valley at the heart of Dartmoor National Park.

3 days of guided photography walks, thoughtfully planned to showcase Dartmoor’s autumn beauty.

Personalised tuition throughout, covering composition, lighting, creative storytelling, and more, tailored to your skill level.

Transport to and from each walk location, so you can focus on the experience.

3 evenings of elegant 2 course dinners (starter and main), featuring the best of local, seasonal produce.

Each morning begins with a wide selection of seasonal fruits, yogurts, and cereals from the cold buffet, followed by your choice of a freshly cooked Devonshire Breakfast or a lighter option, such as smoked salmon with scrambled eggs.

Tea, coffee, and cake each afternoon on your return, the perfect way to relax after a day on the moor.

Dartmoor Photography Retreat

You’ll explore Dartmoor’s most breathtaking and lesser known locations, guided by Jules and her expert eye. With tuition tailored to your level, whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your creative vision, this retreat offers the perfect balance of learning, exploring, and unwinding. The walks will be relaxed, fun photography tips, chats and moorland walks with some stunning scenery and Dartmoor ponies. Possibly some highland cows if we are lucky, definitely lots of sheep. There will be numerous opportunities for photos stops and chats along the way.

Step into Dartmoor’s wild autumn beauty and return with photographs and memories to treasure.

GOT SOME QUESTIONS?

This retreat is designed for those who love nature, appreciate quiet moments of beauty, and want to learn in a warm and inspiring environment. With limited places to ensure a personal and immersive experience, early booking is encouraged.

They will be tailored to the small groups ability and will be roughly 2-3 miles, maybe more depending on the group. Dartmoor terrain is very uneven. We will stop many times for photos and a picnic rest stop.

Whatever equipment you have that works, from a phone to a film camera, a digital SLR to a professional camera and lens set up. Feel free to bring a tripod or anything you would like. Personally I pack light and don’t carry a tripod and may just bring my small lens. Anything goes and its not about the kit at all, its all about immersing yourself in Dartmoor and capturing some hidden spots.

Sturdy walking boots are a must as are waterproof clothes, water, a fully charged phone and snacks, spare socks maybe ….it can be wet underfoot on Dartmoor.

Terms & Conditions
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

The remaining balance is due no later than 1 month before the retreat start date.

If full payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel your booking and retain your deposit.

Cancellations by guests:

The deposit is non-refundable.

If you cancel after paying the full balance, we will attempt to re-sell your place; if successful, we may refund part of the balance at our discretion (excluding the deposit).

If we cannot re-sell your place, no refund will be issued.

If the retreat must be cancelled by the organiser for any reason, a full refund of all payments (including deposits) will be provided.

Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from Lydgate House Hotel.

We strongly recommend that guests take out appropriate travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.

The itinerary and locations may be adjusted in response to weather or other factors beyond our control.
